DeSiGneR KiDz

DeSiGneR KiDz by SerenityRose Constantine is a wonderful place to shop. The prices are reasonable and the products are very nice. The majority of the products are kids’ apparel. There is however furniture, toys and avatar appearance items as well.

Designer Kids Entrance

The inworld store has an airy feel to it. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a very big selection. Also, the apparel at this location starts at one hundred Lindens.

On the plus side, the items are displayed in a manner that makes them easy to view. The pictures are large and clear. I prefer shopping at the Marketplace store. The selection is much greater. Prices range from as low as one Linden up to five hundred Linden. Many of the apparel items are fifty Linden or less making them affordable (even to newbies with little Lindens).

Designer Kidz Stor

The amazing thing is that although reasonably priced the items are of excellent quality. Whether you like simple jeans outfits or frilly dresses you will find something you like at DeSiGneR KiDz. At least you will if you’re a girl. I have yet to see any boy items here. So, my recommendation girls is to check this store out!

Introducing the SL Kids of Kidz Korner: Elisha Hubbard

My name is Elisha Hubbard. My second life is that of a 13 year old girl, currently living in Willowdale and enrolled in the Hope Harbor school system.

I decided to play as a kid because my real-life childhood and teen years were not the best. I don’t really like to talk about it with people I don’t know very well, but I will share with the readers here in hopes that they will understand me and why I do what I do. I lived an abusive childhood, I was beaten almost daily whether I needed it or not. I was accused of lying even when telling the complete truth, and beaten for that too. Both of my parents were abusive, but up until I was around 8 years old, my father was the primary. When I was 8 years old, he killed himself in front of me. I didn’t really understand everything that happened but I figured that most of the problems would stop. Unfortunately, I was wrong. My father’s death seemed to drive my mom off the deep end and she became twice the monster he was. The beatings and physical stuff still happened but it expanded into psychological things too. She would break my stuff, she would kill my pets, she once took my bedroom door outside and burned it. I know this sounds like a sob story for a movie or something but this is the real me. Anyways. I ran away at 15, and moved around with different friends and such until I graduated high school.

When I came to SL at first it was just another game but I found out that it is possible to be ANYONE you want and play the game HOWEVER you want. This was interesting to me, because I now see it as an opportunity to right some wrongs with my own life. It sounds silly, but it makes me feel better knowing that I can relive a *different* childhood and have more fun with it this time. I’ve played as a kid/teen now for going on three years and I’ve been having a blast with it.

I really enjoy playing a teen because it allows me to escape from the worries and stresses of the real world for a while. No job concerns, no money, no stress. I can be a kid again and play and have fun. It’s great most of the time. I also am trying my hand at clothes making and such aimed at teen girls and I make shirts and jeans and braces and stuff that teen girls would like.

However, there are a few negatives to being a kid/teen in SL. The main one that I run into a lot is that some places won’t allow you in if you’re not above a certain height standard or if you have “childlike features” whatever that means. I feel excluded from many of the more popular places in Second Life because of that silly rule. I believe that rule comes about because of my *other* dislike in Second Life. That is, there are people in SL that try should I say this…take advantage of kid and teen avatars and get them to do things that are inappropriate. I don’t like it when I’m hit on by perverts and people try to get me to do sex stuff with them and whatnot.

Overall though, my experience as a kid in SL have been positive. There have been some bumps on the road but that’s life. I can’t say I’d recommend this life to everyone, because to me, you have to really have the whole kid at heart thing going if you’re going to have fun with this. But, this is SL, you can be who you want, what you want and nobody will tell you otherwise. At least, you won’t hear any complaints from me!
