Zombie Killer

For my post trifecta meet Atlas, my zombie killing alt. I thought I would wheel him out after mentioning  Zombie Bloodbath in my last post and share his 100% free look for anyone interested in combat based RP. There are loads of combat clothing options littered throughout SL and the marketplace, but what you see here was all gratis and will help get you going, at least until you are ready to spend your hard-earned Lindens.

Currently Atlas has 1510  kills and 11008 experience points but I’ve been munched on a few times by those damn zombies. Steam Gets Meshed

I found my first male free mesh outfit the other day, its a group gift from Yasum and is part of a full avatar group gift that comes complete with shape, skin, hair, outfit and shoes. What I found interesting and will probably be a challenge in the early days of mesh clothing, is that I attempted to mix and match by adding a different shirt to the mesh pants. However as I had to wear an alpha layer with the mesh pants (seems to be the case with all mesh pants), the alpha layer cut off the bottom section of the standard shirt layer I tried to wear, so in the end I was forced to wear the mesh tank that came with the outfit. To my mind this was a bit restrictive, it will be addressed no doubt as more mesh clothing becomes available, but until this happens I can see some restriction to wearing mesh and non mesh clothing together as an outfit. The other new experience was when I went to wear a prim belt, it actually removed the mesh pants which had attached themselves to my pelvis attachment point, as opposed to wearing them as a clothing layer which was until mesh, the norm (n.b. the alpha layer I had to wear was actually the layer that was “worn”). This is not a problem as the new viewers support multiple attachments to the same point, but it does appear that it will reduce your ability to attach multiple items by one. Maybe not a big problem but worth noting.

The textures in mesh clothing are certainly smoother, their lines a lot sharper but the “wearing” is certainly a lot different; different clothing sizes are required to match different avatar sizes. This outift included 2 different sizes of pants to suit slim or muscular avatars.

Today Steam is wearing:
Outfit including shoes - Yasum: Leather Thief, group gift
Hair - Acarvim:Tattoo layer hair, found at the gift area at MADdesigns

Sunglasses - SZD: Sunglasses black, store gift
Necklace & Piercings: GABRIEL, group gifts
Finger tape: Crank, old hunt gift

Urban Chic

It was a hot day, me and my buds were hanging out on the street corner, you know, just shooting the breeze and telling lies. It was a pretty cool time, some hot chicks strolled by every now and then helping give the optic nerve a workout, it was a good day!

And..... what do you want?

Today’s outfit started with the hair - I stumbled across a new hair store the other day with so many anime influenced hair styles I was literally lost for ages as I explored and tried on new styles before finally settling on the Kentaro. From there I just added and experimented – this is perhaps my 3rd attempt at getting the look just right. I would highly reccomend joining the Style Extrem update group, members get weekly free items and from all accounts, they are great quality and as for the hair….. go check this store it’s amazing.

Today Steam is wearing:
Kentaro Hair – L$150 from Lotus
Vibrant eyes – group gift from A:S:S
Ashton skin – group gift from Belleza (fee to join)
Sander shape – group gift from [Identity] (fee to join)
Tank – group gift from GABRIEL
Spinal necklace – L$35 from Grumble
Sin7 piercing – Menstuff hunt gift from iPOKE
Anchor tattoo – Depraved Summer Nights hunt gift from Para Designs
Jeans – group gift from Style Exstrem

The Best L$250 You Will Ever Spend

Today I’m writing mostly about a group gift that isn’t free. As you know, a whole lot of stores in Second Life have update groups you can join where they provide you with information about new releases, upcoming promotions and gifts etc and to date nearly all my articles have featured items from these free to join groups. Well today I’m writing about an update group that isn’t free, in fact it costs L$250 to join, payable once only – it’s for the skin store Belleza.

The skin I’m wearing today is called Ashton, the group gift comes with 20 different versions of the same skin, so you just know you’ll like at least one version. So if you ever find yourself with L$250 buring a hole in your pocket and you’re wondering whether to spend it on a cheap skin or join the Belleza store group and wait a little while for their next group gift to be posted…. well you know my recommendation.

Today Steam is wearing:
Ashton skin – pre-release group gift from Belleza (skin now on sale)
Vibrant prim eyes – group gift from A:S:S
Eddy hair – fathers day gift from Diorsis (not sure on availability)
Fortuna horn necklace – group gift from AIDORU (no longer available – new gift now instore)
Inner dragon tattoo – Silk Road hunt gift from Dragonlady’s Closet
Jeans and top – group gift from Wilson
Bracelet – group gift from GABRIEL
Sneakers - group gift from [JP] dsg.
Poses – Photos taken for free at the Free Photography Studio and Mall and edited in GIMP

Just as matter of interest, if you haven’t already, click on the above link to GIMP – it’s a free to download and use image manipulation software program, similar to Photoshop but free.

City vs. Country

Stumbling along through SL as I often do I came across Calypso Giano and their 4 mens outfits they have out for free, I chose this one to style as it provided the opportunity to modify slightly to suit a number of different occasions – in this instance  a city versus country look. Although reasonably basic, the texturing is still good and the jeans and or shirt will suit a number of different looks. I also whipped out a few more items I scored in the Menstuff hunt and added a few extra group gifts- honestly, if you haven’t done this hunt and are a male in SL, you need to. Add to that the $10,000 linden prize being offered for the best styled avatar using only Menstuff hunt items and what other incentive do you need – see the Menstuff hunt website here for more information.

Today Steam is wearing:
Left:-
sf design earings – free from SF Designs
Torres shirt and jeans - group gift from Calypso Giano
Black belt – group gift from GABRIEL
Barbed wire tattoo – Menstuff hunt gift from toris stylez
Eclypse necklace – free gift from <LOAQ>
Bracelet – group gift from *JD*DESIGN
Dress shoes – from SF Design

Right:-
G&T Cowboy hat – Menstuff hunt gift from G&T
sf design hat hair – free from SF Designs
sf design earings – free from SF Designs
Torres shirt and jeans - group gift from Calypso Giano
Brown belt – group gift from GABRIEL
Barbed wire tattoo – Menstuff hunt gift from toris stylez
Eclypse necklace – free gift from <LOAQ>
Bracelet – group gift from *JD*DESIGN
Urban cowboy boots- Menstuff hunt gift from [hate this]
Poses – Photos taken for free at the Free Photography Studio and Mall and edited in GIMP

You will note I’ve worn “hat hair” in the second picture – go get this, trust me, you’ll thank me later – hats and hair in SL is problematic and this helps solve the problem!
