Look at Shiki

Another great way to get some amazing clothes without spending a fortune in SL is to join store groups. Most of these will call themselves VIP groups although a word of warning, some groups will try to charge you to join ( between 50L$ –  500 L$). I found a brilliant  group that belongs to Shiki. This store’s clothes are quite expensive, but join the Group and you can get clothes for men and woman that are all free! You even get an update every month when another gift is out. So go have a look at Shiki.

Raid the Mark- Um How Do I Open Items From The Marketplace?

Opening packages that have been delivered to you through Second Life’s marketplace is really hard, right?

Nope. It’s quite easy, although a lot of people have troubles with it, especially when you end up with a massive box attached to your avatar’s arm or whole body. Here is a step by step guide to opening a package delivered to you from the marketplace.

Step One: Drag the Item from your inventory on to the ground. This is known as Rezzing. Most items delivered from the Marketplace be transferred in the ‘Objects’ Folder in your inventory.

Opening Packets part 1

Step Two: Right click the items and go to open. Some items allow you to click directly on the package to open them. Vendors call the act of clicking on the box to open, ‘Touch’.

Opening Packets part 2

Step Three: When a box is ‘touched’, or right-click and opened, a window of content will appear on your screen. This will show  you all the items within the package. ‘Copy to Inventory’ will  transfer the items into your inventory.

Opening Packets part 3

Step Four: Your new items are now in your inventory ready for you to wear or rez. Remember clicking the Recent tab will show you all the items that have recently gone into your inventory. This tab only works from the time you log in until the time you log out. Once you’ve logged back into Second Life you will have to go Inventory diving for anything you need. If you remember the name of the item, you can use the ‘Search Filter’ bar to help.

 Opening Packets part 4

That’s it, I told you it wasn’t hard.

Oh, almost forgot, to delete the package after you have transferred your items, just right-click and delete, it will place the empty box into your trash folder. Keep rezzing areas prim free and clean for other residents!

The Torch Guiding Light Hunt locations, hints and more

Today we open the gates for the first annual Torch Guiding Light Hunt, a hunt to help all newcomers to navigate Second Life, to find good places to hang out, shop, roleplay and more. This hunt is designed to take you through everything SL has to offer.

Some of these things require you to be “adult verified” due to it’s explicit nature. This is a part of Second life so we didn’t want to keep it away from you and pretend it isn’t there, but if you are uner 18 years old, or don’t want to see such materials, it’s fine to skip those places.

If you want to do an age verification you will need to go to the Second Life webpage, log in and click on Age Verification. There you need to verify that you are an adult.

Snowpaws

Snowpaws is an amazing store for new residents, from a price range of free – 280L$. They are very newcomer friendly with 24 Lucky letter boards, 6 Midnight Mania board and 4 Slap & Dash board. The store is modern looking and very open, the decor is minimal and with a beautiful atmosphere to shop. Snowpaws is also involved in many hunts in Second Life.

There aren’t any Mens clothes sadly, but you quickly forget about that when you their music of Pop and R&B distracts you for a second or you see your letter on one of the many prize boards.

Newcomer friendly:  8 out of 10

Music: 8 out of 10

Overall Experience: I got to give this place a big fat 9 out of 10 as this place is super

Look at Koko

Sunday came around and I was doing window shopping Second Life, until I got an Instant Message from one of my friends telling me about a store. Obviously I jumped on the nearest Teleport over and landed in a place called Koko which has a main store, an out let and a newcomer friendly store.

The Newcomer store has free skins for those residents that are under 6 month old. Skins can also be bought for 99L$.  The store has also a variety of Eyelashes, Eyes and Hair which range from 10L$ – 50L$. The Main store has a great range of shoes and clothes that are priced between 49L$ – 300L$ and more. The Outlet store has shoes, gowns and other outfits from 49L$ – 99L$ although some of the items in this store are quite pricey.

All in all Koko is a great store for newcomers and older residents with lots of group gifts. It’s even better if you enjoy 80′s music while you’re shopping.

Newcomer Friendly: 5 out of 10

Music: 9 out of 10

Lag: 6 out of 10

Over all experience: 6 out of 10
